Willans Mazda MX-5 (NA/NB) 4 Point Road Harness

This harness is part of the Willans Supersport range using push button buckles.

Willans MX-5 4-point Road Harness: ECE 16 approved and specifically designed for Mazda MX-5 from 1989 to 2005. With shorter shoulder straps designed to wrap around a roll bar or harness bar, these harnesses are ideal for use in your MX-5 if used on the road or for track days.

As standard they feature shoulder straps manufactured to the correct length ready to wrap around your roll bar or harness bar. Lap straps have Snap Hook fixings and eye bolts are supplied that fix to the original seatbelt mounting points in the car.

A harness bar manufactured specifically for the MX-5 can be supplied if required. Please use dropdowns to order.

Steel adjusters to shoulder and lap straps are fitted as standard. Adjusters can be upgraded to Black Willans Aluminium Adjusters if required. Please note these harnesses are not ECE approved when upgrading to aluminium adjusters. Straps are 2 inches nominal on this harness. Signature range includes additional colours and the option of the Historic Willans Label if required. Stitching thread is self-colour (same as harness colour) unless upgraded to a Signature colour using the dropdowns on the page. Shoulder pads are available in Black, Blue or Red only with Modern or Historic Labels. All straps are fully adjustable. Superb Willans quality throughout. Manufactured in the UK. • Willans MX-5 4-point Road Harness: ECE 16 approved for Road Use (steel adjusters only). Also suitable for Trackday use.
• Shoulder Straps wrap around roll bar or harness bar (harness bar available as an option, see below)
• Shoulder straps are approximately 122cm from the adjuster to the end of the strap
• Shoulder Straps are manufactured for the MX-5 to exactly the correct length to wrap around the harness bar or roll bar without excess webbing
• Lap Straps have Snap Hook fixings. Eye bolts are supplied. The lap strap eye bolts screw into the original mounting points on the sill and on the seat runners. If you have replaced or are thinking of replacing the seats with Cobra Monaco (narrow version MX-5 seats) this is still the case. If you have seats fitted with sidemounts a new fixing point will be required to the centre of the car, on the tunnel. Please select the Harness Stress Plates from the dropdown to facilitate this requirement. All FIA seats will require this type of fixing.
• Pull Up Laps: Lap strap adjusters pull up towards the central buckle to tighten.

Aluminium adjusters for Shoulder Straps and Lap Straps are available for this harness. The size of the shoulder straps will determine the size of the aluminium adjusters supplied.

Webbing Colour Options

Webbing can be supplied in a range of colours for this harness. Standard colours are Willans Blue, Red, and Black. Signature colours are Yellow and Silver/Grey (please use dropdown to select colour required).

Thread Colour Options

The thread used to manufacture this harness can be supplied in a range of colours. The standard is self-coloured (same colour as harness ordered). Signature colours are Red, Orange, Yellow, British Racing Green, Willans Blue, Pink, White, Silver, and Black (please use dropdown to select colour required).

Velcro to Shoulder Straps

Velcro patches are available as an option on the shoulder straps (please use dropdown to select if required). Ideal to prevent webbing blowing about in open top sports and racing cars.

T-Handles to Shoulder Straps

Sewn in nylon T-Handles are available as an option on the shoulder straps (please use dropdown to select if required).

Willans Label Options

Two styles of labels are available for this harness. The Modern version, and the recently reintroduced Historic version that gives a more period look to classic vehicles (please use dropdown to select the style required). These different labels can also be specified on the range of Shoulder Pads offered.

Willans Shoulder Pads

Two inch shoulder pads are available for this harness. Colours: Blue, Black, or Red. Available with the Modern Willans Label or the Historic version (please use dropdown to select colour and labels required).

Harness Bar (NA/NB Only)

MX-5 Harness Bar: The only way to securely, safely, and easily fit harnesses to an MX-5. In fact, this MX-5 specific harness is only designed to be used with a harness bar or a roll bar. The harness bar attaches to the seatbelt towers and has the added benefit of acting as a brace giving increased rigidity. It fits both right and left-hand drive Mk1 and 2 MX-5 models.

Please note that only one harness bar is needed per vehicle. If ordering a pair of harnesses, add one to the basket with a harness bar and one without.

Steel stress plates with captive 7/16″ UNF nut to create suitable mounting point for Willans Harnesses. Supplied in pairs and available in standard or FIA approved versions (please use dropdown to select if required).

• Shoulder straps are approximately 122cm from the adjuster to the end of the strap
• The adjustment range of the lower shoulder strap is between 10cm and 40cm
• The fixings supplied with the harness at the end of the shoulder straps are not sewn on, and can easily be removed when you wrap the shoulder straps around your harness bar or roll bar
• When the webbing has been wrapped around a bar, this will leave a maximum length of approximately 70cm from the adjuster to the bar
